About:

Education: Stockport Convent High School For Girls; Newnham College, Cambridge

Career: Began a broadcasting career in the 1950’s; Joined the BBC radio as studio manager; Made her first appearance on BBC television as a guest on Table Talk, 1962; Co-presented BBC 2’s pioneering Late Night Line Up programme, 1964/1972; Moved to Granada television in the 1970’s, pioneering the Reports Action interactive audience programme; Worked again for the BBC in the 1980’s, presenting the PM programme on Radio 4, and as arts correspondent on BBC Television, 1981/1987; In the late 1980’s was a reporter and presenter on BBC 1’s The Heart of the Matter; Since 2000 has presented her own series, including My Generation, Taboo and Flowering in Autumn (BBC 4, 2005) and continued a radio career, currently presenting Radio 3’s Belief programme
